With a locked Facebook profile, whatever you post is only visible to your Facebook friends.

This also means that your Profile will be hidden from anyone who does not follow you or does not have the authorization to read your timeline.

Note: If you have authorized a third-party application to access your profile, that third-party application may be able to see your locked Profile.

Keep in mind that when you choose to share content on Facebook with others, this content may be downloaded or shared.

When you make your Facebook Profile Locked:

·        Only friends can see your full-size profile picture and cover photo.

·        Any posts you’ve shared in the past to the Public will change to Friends.

·        Only a portion of your About Info will be visible to everyone on your profile.

·        Profile review and tag review will be turned on.

·        Locked Facebook profile will not be discovered using third-party search engines: Google, Bing...

·        Only you and your Facebook friends will be able to search for your Post on Facebook.

·        Any replies you send to a profile that isn't following you on Facebook will be ignored (because only your Facebook friends will see your Profile).

·        When new people decide to follow you on Facebook, you'll get a request that you can accept or decline.

·        Only your Facebook friends will be able to see your Profile, including permanent links to your Profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when I Unlock my Facebook profile from locked?

Making your Facebook profile public will cause any previously posted Facebook stories to be made public.

What happens when I share media in a locked Facebook profile?

Only your Facebook friends will be able to access the media in your Profile if you make them private.

But keep in mind that links to multimedia that you share in a locked Facebook profile may be downloaded or re-shared by your Facebook friends.

The links to media on Facebook are not private. Anyone who has access to the link will be able to view the content.

What happens when my Facebook profile is locked but still shows in search engine results?

After you lock your Facebook profile, only you and your Facebook friends will be able to read your updates or see your Profile in Facebook search.

If you had public Posts before protecting them, those posts will no longer be public or appear in public Facebook search results.

Unprotecting your Post, on the other hand, will make any previously locked Facebook profile.

Facebook is unable to erase sites on the internet other than Facebook.com.

What If my Facebook Post has never been public?

If you've never made your Profile public, your changes should never appear on Facebook or other global search engines.

If they appear in search results, reset your Facebook password immediately and shut down any untrustworthy third-party apps.

When I lock my Facebook profile, who has access to my posts, photographs, albums, and stories?

When you lock your profile, only friends will be able to see your profile's posts, pictures, albums, and stories.

Note that public access can still be granted to shared albums and posts on Pages, the Marketplace, and public groups.

Posts

On your profile, the option to make a post public will no longer be available.

Any prior posts that were set to Public will automatically change to Friends after you lock your profile.

Posts without a privacy setting (such as those about blood donations, crisis response, or fundraisers) will not be visible on your profile.

Stories: If you have any live stories when you lock your profile, only Friends will be able to see them.

You cannot set your audience to "Public."

Albums

You are unable to set an album's audience to Public once your profile has been locked.

A shared album that you are a member of may be public.

A shared album will change to Friends by default if all contributors are eliminated.

Photos

The tag will remain on the person's profile after you lock your profile if you cease being friends with them, but they won't be able to view the photo on your profile or in their other tagged photographs.

When I lock my Facebook page, what happens to my About Information?

When you lock your profile, just the top five public facts (such as your current city, hometown, and relationship status) can be seen by individuals who aren't your friends.

Only you and your friends will be able to access all of your About Info details if you have more than five of them set to Public.

When you lock your profile, set the audience to Friends or Only Me to ensure that no one who isn't a friend can read any of your About Info.

In areas like Groups, Community Help, Events, and Marketplace, who can see my posts?

People who are not friends with you on Facebook will be able to read any posts you've made in groups, events, and other locations of this nature when your profile is locked.

If someone visits your main profile when you are in the same Group or Event, they won't be able to see your profile posts, images, albums, stories, or full-size profile pictures unless you are friends on Facebook.

When I lock my Facebook profile, can people still post on it and tag me in posts?

When you lock your profile, profile review and tag review are immediately enabled.

Remember that if you unfriend someone who is tagged in your photo, the tag will still be present but the individual won't be able to view the photo.

No one you are not already friends with can be tagged.

When I lock my Facebook profile, can people still message me or send me friend requests?

Even after you lock your profile, individuals can still look you up and send you messages and friend requests.

When I lock my profile, can others still see me in People You May Know?

When you lock your profile, other users may still be able to see it when they visit the Friends or People You May Know tabs in their newsfeeds.
